Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are hedgehogs difficult to care for?
Hedgehogs make great pets if you are willing to care for them properly. The key to hedgehog care is to socialize them daily. Also, occasional baths and nail clippings are necessary. For more information, please The Hedgehog Blog, where we have a few posts dedicated to hedgehog care.
Q: How do I get a hedgehog?
After you've researched hedgehogs and have determined they're a good fit for you, fill out the short adoption application to be added to the waiting list. We will notify you as soon as we have a hedgehog available. We do not accept deposits until we have a hedgehog available. For more information on the waiting list process, visit here.
Q: When will the next litter be born?
For currently available litters, please see our Available Hoglets page. Please see our Breeding Schedule for other upcoming litters. If you are on the waiting list, we will start notifying you once the hoglets are around 4 weeks of age regarding your status.

Q: How long is the waiting list?
Due to the size of our herd and our desire to ensure quality pets, we do not breed for quantity. The average wait time for a hoglet after joining the waiting list is between 1-3 months.
Q: I do not live near North Carolina, do you ship your hedgehogs?
Pick-up is available where indicated on the Breeding Schedule. Additionally, we have partnered with a reputable USDA transport company to allow for safe, nationwide shipping of our hedgehogs for an additional fee.
